There’s a lot of talk online about Made in the USA, especially regarding our nation’s symbol, the American flag.  I just wanted to give you a background of what made in the USA means here at Martin’s Flag Company.  Martin’s Flag has been in business since 1895. We have always been made in the USA for over 130 years.  We have been around during the Spanish – American War all the way to the Afghan War.  Grover Cleveland was the president when we opened our doors. So, we have been around for a long time.  We have been extremely proud of the fact that we have been a place that people can rely on. They are going to get a high-quality flag that is Made in the USA.

What it Truly Means to Be Made In The USA

Now, we don’t just like to say made in the USA and leave it at that.  Every stitch, grommet, stripe, and star field is made with raw materials sourced from U.S. suppliers. These suppliers make their materials in the U.S.  What this means is that you get a flag that is not only made in the USA but is made with only American-made materials.  The flag is 100% made in the USA. Additionally, 100% of materials are sourced from the U.S.

Lock Stitching in Flags Offers the Ultimate Reinforcement

So we are made in the USA with American-sourced materials.  The next thing we do is offer lock stitching in all our seams for our reinforced U.S. flags.  Lock stitching is the preferred stitch for making a flag as rigid and hardy as possible.  Our reinforced U.S. flags that are up to 5’x8′ are made with four rows of lock stitching on the fly end of the flag.  Flags bigger than 5’x8′ are made with six rows of lock stitching.  We want to ensure that the stitching is the best it can possibly be so the flag has the best chance to last the longest.  We also reinforce this with back tacking on the corners since this is usually the first part of the flag to show wear and tear.  Our Nylon and Polyester American flags come with embroidered stars and sewn stripes. They are finished off with a strong white polyester heading and brass grommets.  As you go larger in size in our flags, we start to add hoist patches to the corners, starting at the 10’x15′ size.  We add these to help add reinforcement to the corners.

All of this and we are also members of the FMAA (Flag Manufacturers Association of America).  There are strict guidelines to be a member of the organization. This helps to ensure that people who are buying our flags are getting a certified made in the USA flag.  All of our flags come with the FMAA logo on a tag so that you know everything in your flag has been certified.
